The decor in here is gorgeous! The service is great, and the food is good too. Their shrimp & grits is to die for! It was basically my first time trying shrimp and grits in general, and even thought I've been told that the one at Tavern & Table is slightly different, I still loved it. The portion was huge, and the amount of shrimp they give you is almost two handfuls (sort of...)!

Whoa what a mixed bag here. First off hats off to the designers. Great looking place. Second thank God for a beautiful location. We have been here a few times and sitting outside toward sunset with dolphins frolicking in the creek never ever gets old. Location and hipness this place rates a 5 star rating. Food well not so much. I had a Steak salad that was bland like kissing your sister. Hardly any lettuce. I left hungry ok so I should have had the burger which looked pretty good. I'll be back because of flipper but if I had to pick a place for my last meal this wouldn't be the place.

Loved it! Such a lovely refurbishment of a tired space. From the moment you enter (the floor!) to the dining areas, pizza oven in the alcove to the right & bars (in & out), to the restrooms...all stylishly well-done. We stopped in during restaurant week (!) and Sat at the bar with Kevin serving us. Really inventive menu & unlike most restaurants, everything was mouth-watering. On point, without over catering to the usual trends. Kevin was welcoming, fun & professional, recommending the pork buns, flatbreads & yummy desserts. All in all, a delightful experience!

"Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded." -Yogi Berra That pretty much how you sum up Tavern & Table. I've been there three times thus far and still have yet to eat here. Time #1: We arrived as a party of eight without a reservation and it was going to be a two hour wait. Poor planning on our party obviously. Time #2: We arrived at 10:10 and the kitchen was closed. Also my bad not Tavern & Table's. Time #3: I was meeting like ten of my coworkers for happy hour. Somehow I beat them by a few minutes and grabbed a seat at the bar. I started talking to the lady next to me, who just happened to be the hairdresser for Southern Charm. At this point I lost all interest in my coworkers and turned all interest toward getting Southern Charm gossip. The only thing better than all of the gossip I received is the fact that Tavern & Table has $4 glasses of wine and happy hour. I paid my $8 tab and wondered out to the patio to meet my actual party who was at this point wondering what the hell had happened to me. They'd also enjoyed appetizers in my absence, so this actually marked Time #3 at Tavern & Table without food. I still really, really want to eat here. The space is impeccable. Their patio and bar are way fancier than the likes of Water's Edge, Vickery's, and Red's (duh). Happy hour is fantastic. I might be willing to give the place five stars if I ever succeed in eating here.

I know this place gets mixed reviews, but I am definitely a fan! a+ for atmosphere, quality of food, stellar views, music, menu, price point, and friendly service. Not one dip in total satisfaction the whole evening..! After grabbing a glass of wine and chilling on the porch overlooking the water, we meandered inside to dine. Our server was efficient and helpful. She brought us an affordable but very tasty bottle of Albariño, which we enjoyed throughout our meal. We ordered the brussels sprouts, burrata, oysters, deviled eggs, miso cod, and fries. All the food was excellent but the Brussels sprouts, burrata and oysters were beyond outstanding. I've had good oysters before but wow: these were something different. These were to die for!!! Granted, they were all rich dishes, but because we split the food, it ended up being a very nice mix of flavorful dishes. Deviled eggs were ok but nothing spectacular or unique. Fries (despite being cooked in duck fat), tasted pretty much like any other fry. The miso cod was also excellent - it was the only entree we ordered for the table, and it was HUGE! Very generous portion of meat, accompanied with bok choy, and black sticky rice. There were three of us dining and we left food on our plates-- just to give you an idea of the portion sizes. Definitely, definitely recommend going here. Best place to dine in Shem Creek by far!!!

Chose to try out Tavern and Table based on all of the great Yelp reviews previously. Overall a mixed experience, server was good, and timely and handled all things well. However; the kitchen must have been backed up Bc food took forever to come out on a not so busy night. My burger was extremely undercooked as well. They did however handle it well, cooked another burger (which was above average, not amazing not bad) and didn't charge me for it along with a comp'd dessert to make up for it. Food was above average tho pricey, great ambiance and decor and good service. I'd consider giving it another try, but not going to Jump at it again either.

A charming eatery on Charleston's famous Shem Creek. Eating creek side is always a pleasure when the weather is agreeable, which is almost always. You're usually treated to sightings of the local Dolphins that regularly feed in the creek. It's definitely a draw. Our meal today was served by the gracious and pleasant Ivy. She took good care of us and saw to our needs. My lovely wife enjoyed the highly recommended T&T Burger. Served with skinny fries, its aroma and taste were spot on. I had the Brisket Mac n Cheese. Regrettably, it was a bit of a disappointment, being rather bland. As any southerner will attest, mnc is nearly a religion here. While it wasn't blasphemous, it definitely lacked spirit. The cheese combination neither complimented nor contrasted with the brisket which would be better described as roast beef. Perhaps the use of a more hearty cheese such as a smoke Gouda would have punched up the entree. One other dish we saw noteworthy of mention was their wings. Generously sized and by their appearance, perfectly deep fried and crisp. We'll likely return as Shem Creek is a draw too hard to resist. I however will look to enjoy some other fare.

Omg this place is amazing. Service is wonderfully attentive, atmosphere is cool. Lovely view of Shem Creek. Get the charcuterie platter. Don't ask questions!! So good!!! There are excellent entrees, very savory and complex flavors. Menu does change so ask what's been popular. Take your time and enjoy!

Wow! What more can you want from a fabulous location. Beautiful decor and glorious sunset venue dining on a long lazy porch. The menu is artfully crafted from local farm fresh ingredients and presented in hearty portions prepared to share. Should you have spoons available to divvy up these masterpieces My college girlfriend and I shared the fire roasted oysters, Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts and the pork belly. All delicious and shareable. Each better than the next. All of this amazing stunning good and local tainted by some of the worst service I have experienced I charleston. Maybe it was an off night but I date say I heard no accolades about that from any of this server"s charges. As a die hard helper...I rarely have this type of experience. I'll give it another shot because the food is that good.

Had the Restaurant week lunch special. - lobster grilled cheese and chopped salad and in addition the roasted brussels sprouts - all were delicious! Could live off of the Brussels sprouts!!

Finally, a great place on the water. While our beautiful city is surrounded by gorgeous water and landscape, there aren't too many waterfront dining establishments that hit the mark. This old wedding venue has been transformed into an incredible dining experience. The decor is out of this world and like nothing else you'll find here in Charleston and the views are even more spectacular. Our service was excellent, food came out quickly as well. I opted for a salad and flatbread for the perfect meal, but the table ordered the brussels to start and they are SO delicious! The kale salad and mushroom flatbread were also on point. We'll be back again to try more! Make sure to make a reservation. given it's one of the only nice waterfront establishments it's catching on and books quickly! there is always a nice breeze off of the water, so sit outside too!

I went to Tavern and Table very shortly after it opened. It was packed! Luckily they have a couple bar areas to hang around while waiting to be seated. The bar staff was slammed but polite and served me a tart and strong Charleston Sour in quick time once I had finally gotten close to the bar. We were seated in a pretty dim dining area, so menu reading might be difficult for someone with weak eyes. The menu is a little confusing. There are "snacks," "meat and cheese boards," "small plates," and "beginners" before you even get to entree items. I was so torn about where the appropriate category was to look that eventually I gave up looking at it all. Just call them "appetizers" and be done with it. We ordered the Burnt End Mac N Cheese for the table which was reallllly good. I reccomend it. For my meal, I ordered the soy caramel glazed short rib over ramen gnocchi. The short rib was a little dry but the glaze had a great flavor. The ramen gnocchi but it had the same texture as regular gnocchi and tasted way more salty. I think what I was expecting was gnocchi-shaped compressed ramen noodle balls, so I was a kind of sad when it just looked like regular gnocchi. One of my friends got the short rib grilled cheese, although the cheese to meat ratio really just made it more of a pressed sandwich. Another friend ordered the duck meatloaf which had GREAT flavor. It's huge and rich, though, so I would recommend eating half and taking the rest home. I'd like to go back when it's less busy to try more of the many "appetizers" they offer. And who doesn't like a view of the water?

I would visit this place again and again. Service was top notch, menu was wonderful, and much attention was paid to both presentation and menu selection. Ingredients were fresh and local. I had one of the most succulent quarter roasted chickens it has ever been my pleasure to consume--glazed in mustard and seducing me with every bite. The grape gazpacho I did not love, but I appreciated the idea.

Top notch service, food and atmosphere. Tavern & Table has filled a niche in Charleston foodies. The food is an interesting mix of home grown favorites (sourced locally) and cutting edge culinary masterpieces. Our meal started with the Fire Roasted Oysters (spinach and ginger alioli) and Roasted Brussel Sprouts (bacon and parm. cream) - both were exceptional. For dinner, we had the Duck Confit flatbread, pan-seared Scallops, and the Steak Salad. Every dish exceeded our expectations and we were blown away with the variation of flavors. The service was also outstanding - our waiter did a great job of patiently walking us through the menu and gave us some good recommendations on both dishes and the wine pairings. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Charleston!

Food was superb.. The service was excellent when it was given.. Out waiter seemed to disappear a few times. We tried several things and it was all awesome.. One word of note: if you order an old fashioned, they give you a TNT old fashioned which is made with whiskey and some peach muddled in.. Not what I was expecting and my waiter looked at me weird when I asked him what he just served me.

As a brand new resident of Mt. P, I've visited Tavern & Table a few times already now. The decor is beautifully done, and the location absolutely couldn't be better. The cocktails are pretty on point. Unfortunately, all of the food that we've ordered there was really below par. On my last (and final) try at dinner here, we ordered the Brussels Sprouts, Deviled Eggs + the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread. The Brussels were ALMOST there, but were really missing something seasoning-wise. The Deviled Eggs were just super bland. We were optimistic that the Flatbread would hit the spot, but after a couple of bites, we were just really dumbfounded at the lack of seasoning in it as well. We want so badly to like the food here, but the kitchen really needs to do some shifting for us to want to dine here again.

Love the atmosphere and design concept in the restaurant! Service was great but the food was just okay. Came for brunch and I would recommend the pork belly poutine.

Wonderful staff. Food was exceptional. It was very hot in the restaurant, people waving fans, patting forehead with napkin. (My only dislike) will definitely return.

Heard about this place opening recently and hit it up with a couple of friends. Not really impressed. It has the look and some cool vibes, but they kill it by trying to act upscale in what should be a casual Shem Creek spot. Prices are WAY too high and I was disappointed in the quality and quantity. Service is slow, but good. They don't have a bunch menu, which is also a letdown. Went a 2nd time for drinks on a Saturday night. Bars were packed with people who were trying way too hard to be trendy. If that is your style, you will fit right in.

****My 100th review!**** :) Let me get this out of the way real quick... Yes, it is a tad pricey on the menu and at the bar. However, you get what you pay for! When you start getting that OMG feeling about the price, lift your head up and look around. This place is gorgeous, the staff all look practically like models. The decor is just fantastic and clean. I came here yesterday with about 30 co-workers and the hospitality was nothing shy of perfect. We were welcomed by a beautiful and pleasant greeter at the front door. The bartenders and waiter were very pleasant. They smiled, introduced themselves, and were attentive and speedy. The waiter was quite knowledgeable of the food and offered up recommendations for our group. We basically wanted finger foods, not a sit down multi course dinner. Everything he recommended was brilliant. Quick, simple, and tasty. I would totally bring a date here to wine and dine. When you get there, you almost feel more proper and want to stand a little taller, not to be conceded rather to be more attentive of your surroundings and the beautiful decor and people. Let me also mention that it is a prime location on Shem Creek to watch the dolphins in the water and the sunset. Now I kinda wished I had a girl to hold, a glass of wine, and cuddle up to the docks railing to watch the sunset. Because that's exactly what you can do there. Breathtaking! I will absolutely come back for a formal sit down dinner. And if the food was as wonderful as my entire experience, then I will absolutely bump this up to 5 stars.

****My 100th review!**** :) Following in Blake F.'s foot steps, Tavern & Table gets to be my 100th review too! So here goes!! We ventured down for lunch on Monday. There was 5 of us and baby Colton. (Who was the star of the visit of coarse!) The place is beautiful. Modern but still rustic enough to make sense being that it's right on the water. Once seated we were greeted by Helen and Katie. Katie who was training. Helen let us know of all the daily specials and after hearing about the Manzanita cocktail I was game. It was fresh apple juice and tequila. And boy was it good. It was so good I ordered a second. And I don't know about other's, but somehow I always experience that the second specialty cocktail never taste the same or as good as the first. It's crazy to me b/c it happens to me all the time. It was drinkable, just not the same. With plans to share we ordered the Bussel Sprouts, lobster and cream cheese wontons, burnt end mac and cheese, steak tartar, Butcher's cut burger, and the shrimp and grits. Everything was a huge success for all of us except the mac & cheese and shrimp & grits. As women that live in the south who also love to cook, we put those Southern staples on a different scale since we make them all the time and know what we like. Each of these options needed salt badly. I have two friends that don't cook with a lot of salt, (I know they're nuts) but when they even said both dishes were under seasoned, I knew I wasn't being overly critical. The cheese sauce looked like the consistency of Velvetta but it wasn't. The menu list three different cheeses but I didn't detect any of them. I didn't think it was terrible, but I wouldn't order it again. Same thing for the shrimp and grits. Again under seasoned and the moroccan sauce was watery and didn't have a memorable flavor at all. It did have a lot of shrimp with it, but unfortunately those were over cooked. Now for the good bites! The steak tartar, the burger, and the lobster wonton were by far my favorite bites of the day. The lobster wonton filling was still pipping warm which made for a first great bite to the meal. Big chunks of lobster and the red pepper jelly was savory instead of sweet like red sauces with wontons normally are. I was shocked at how much I loved the steak tartar. The fresh crisp chunks of Asian pears mixed in was a perfect marriage. And for the burger. Whoever was in charge of the seasoning of that did it up right. The dry aged Angus was excellent. I would pay $16 for that burger and fries again. Even with the food being hit and miss, the setting and service was tops so I know I will make a return visit some day.

Underwhelmed. I'm not sure why this place has gotten such rave reviews. The decor and space is outstanding! My friend ordered a burger, and the bread just fell apart immediately. It came with dipping sauce which also aided in the crumbling process. The ground beef was unseasoned and dry. I ordered the steak salad, which, consider yourself warned, comes with a handful of lettuce and a plate full of toppings-bizarre. The server was amazingly kind but service was slow. We had to ask for boxes ourselves, as well as the check. This restaurant has a gorgeous view, with amazing views, but the food was incompatible with the ambience and the prices. Glad I tried it-likely won't return.

This place deserves at least 4 stars everytime. Anything less must have been an unfortunate fluke. Went for dinner with a large group of people. Beautifully decorated and full of personality. The location is to die for! It's right on the water and has a great outdoor seating area. This is a great place for a meal and drinks, but is also great because once you're done with your meal and you'd like to try something different, you can just walk next door to a more "party" bar. The food was rather eclectic: you could have macaroni and cheese, but also have scallops or clams. There wasn't really a theme for the food. A few people in our group are still raving about how comfortable the seating was during dinner, too. Loved this place!

Somewhat new restaurant in the Shem Creek area of Mount Pleasant. Just like the Red's and Water's Edge, really nice place for a drink and view of the creek. They offer a wide range of drink choices. I normally go with an old fashion, and their version is average. I have eaten at T&T twice and that's where they lose me. Food is okay, pricing is a tad much for what they offer. I've had the burger (average, $16), onion dip (decent, $9) and various other appetizers ($7-12). Mac & Cheese is good, pimento also okay. I was in the mood for their ribeye, but pretty sure it's $45, which is real steakhouse pricing. Overall, not a bad place for a drink outside, not sure I'll choose T&T for dinner again.

Nice new addition to Shem Creek's bar scene- Tavern & Table definitely classes it up a bit more than its neighbors. The bar was packed but fortunately was large enough where you were still able to grab a drink... even if they were short staffed and it took a minute. Great beer selection. Didn't try the food but all the apps coming out looked delicious. The restaurant area is gorgeous, they did a great job decorating! Pretty apparent this place will be the new hot spot on the creek.

Love this addition to Shem Creek. I've been here a couple times - the first time for drinks only and this time for food. I will start off by saying the service is phenomenal! I thought the food was just okay, however the portion sizes were great! My sis and I had the pork rinds with cheese fondue, kale salad, brisket mac n cheese, and a brisket flatbread. I found the cheese fondue a little bland - maybe not sharp enough? The other dishes were good but not terribly inventive or extraordinary.

While in town visiting friends we made our way to Table to Tavern. The decor in this place is beautiful its very rustic chic'. The drinks were really good but it took us three times to order our drinks because they kept running out of liquor for what we were ordering off their cocktail menu! The services was a little slow but then again I think that's was low-country living is all about. We're just not use to it but when the food did arrive everything was absolutely fantastic. The few on Shem Creek can't be beat.

Sweet meat pates in appetizer plater were very good. Frogmore soup is classic low country stew with corn chowder base, sausage, shrimp and crab and version here is totally different made with very sweet corn bisque base, not sure I really liked it but rest of table finished theirs. Brussels sprouts were special prep with dry cheese, mustard and touch of bacon, tasty and decadent. Whole fish (see photos) Beautiful preparation and well presented, basil, chili, moist, worth trying at seasonal price of only $24.94. Steak tartar I love and preparation here was interesting and not what I expected and not classic, not ground but cut into about 1/4" cubes and "glued together" with spiced egg yolk. I'll have it again but not spectacular, pine nuts added flavor with Chinese mustard mixed in for spice were good though! Lots of interesting flavors here, "Fresno peppers" given as spice are outstanding, just a little hot and sweet adds lots of flavor. This is new restaurant spreading its wings, wait staff friendly but rushed, this joint busy on Saturday night, but still among the best dinner experiences in Mt Pleasant in a long time, defiantly kept us on our toes.... Cocktails and specialty draft beers are exemplary and reasonable, defiantly a good deal for Charleston. This new joint at Shem Creek is better in my opinion than all the other joints across water or next door as far as cuisine goes, give this place a try and see if they can keep it up.....if they do, watch out, I think they are on their way with experimental wonderful cuisine. Servers are new but try very hard, managers keep coming out to check on crazy parties like ours.... They know a good thing..... Prices not terrible either, good value, VERY INTERESTING CUISINE, I can't wait to come back!

The bartender at my hotel recommended we check this place out-- and it is a GREAT addition to the Shem Creek area. We went on a Thursday at 6:30 and it was packed! We called ahead (as we were leaving the hotel) and they saved us six seats at the "pizza bar" which worked out well. Our group tried lots of apps and the favorite was the Brussels sprouts: creamy, crunchy, tasty, not soggy. We had high hopes for the chips & caramelized onion dip... But that was just okay. Not bad, but not rave-worthy. I ordered the BBQ Waygu brisket Mac-n-cheese.... which was perfection: Chunks of yummy briskest nestled into creamy rich Mac-n-cheese. It was really rich and after the apps and two beers, I could only eat half. The waiter quickly brought me a box to take the rest home. Others in the group got the short ribs (plate-licking, they said) and the sausage flatbread pizza. All very good! The atmosphere is lovely and the crowd is lively. We'll be back!

Love this place, the food is outstanding, service and vibe... Five stars. I regularly eat out in San Francisco, and this place is off the chain. We will be back, most def. :)

Let me start by saying that the food was AMAZEBALLS! It was restaurant week so we had a variety to choose from! We had pimento cheese with bacon jelly (bomb), caramelized onion dip with kettle chips, braised short ribs with ramen gnocchi, and turkey and dumplings. So then dessert happened and I fell in love with the place all over again...snores cupcake! I would have to say that the wine pairings were delicious as well and would highly recommend the Montes Pinot if you love dry red wines like myself. The star was lost on the customer service. The hostesses were nonplussed by our arrival. They nonchalantly sat us at a shitty table in the middle of the room where literally no one else was. The waitress never introduced herself and by the end of the meal she cracked a half smile which we should have applauded. A big thumbs up to their interior designer because it is gorgeous compared to the old place! I'll definitely be back for the food and the atmosphere...

I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner or just for drinks during many time before deciding to write this review and give then a 4 stars. The me the food quality were very inconsistent. I had amazing dinner one night and the was so just so meh. Same for brunch. Some of the consistent things are that I'm always amazed by the decor, ambience, and the atmosphere. If you got a pair of sun glasses, a drink in one hand, and a few friends around to chat with. You know you're in for some amazing but not too crazy time.

  • Tim O.

The place looks great. The outside bar overlooks Shem's creek and has a good drink, wine and beer menu. The food is good...not great. But....the service is terrible: We sat on the porch next to the bar to start with drinks. Initially service was OK, but then drinks took 15 to arrive after ordering and another 15 minutes to get a check. We then went into the dinning room for dinner. It took a while to to initially order. After ordering some "small plates" we were planning on ordering main courses and more drinks, but the waitress took a long time to come back to the table. So we decided to bag it and headed out. Stick with the bar, avoid food service.

  • Peter K.

I wanted to come here for a while. The location is great and drinks on the outside deck were delicious. Dinner was not as successful. The flatbread, Brussels sprouts and burata starters were great, the brisket mac and cheese was to sweet and all four of the main courses were terrible. Two of us had the fish of the day which was a completely dry and over-cooked snapper, the other two had the banh mi burger and the French dip burger which were dry and luke-warm with almost cold French fries on the side. Really disappointing considering that the bill for 4 with three drinks came to $175 before tip. The staff by the way were very nice and helpful. Go for drinks and starters!

What a beautifully decorated and wonderful location for a southern tapa-ish place. We arrived a tried a variety of their signature cocktails. They were made quickly and very delicious, an extensive list of different drinks. We all then tried several types of the small plates and snacks. I ordered the BBQ flatbread. It came out quickly and was crispy and flavorful. The crust was thin and the the pulled pork had just enough sauce not to overwhelm the equation. We also ordered the pimento cheese and ritz crackers. A Charleston staple - this cheese had bacon on top and was amazing. My friend may have licked the spoon in order to make sure she didn't miss any of the cheese. We saw some Dolphins out of the window onto Shem creek. If the weather isn't too hot- go outside! It won't disappoint.

  • Tyler C.

Stopped by here twice in the last week. Next door to Red's Ice House (same owners). Love the location on Shem Creek. We sat and watched the boats. Both times we were there, Dolphins were swimming under the kayakers and paddle borders. The food is delicious. It is a bit on the "foodie side" for me, but you will love it if you are into that type of food. One piece of feedback for the ownership ... Kill the thick railing outside - it blocks the water view unless you stand up. Heard numerous people echo our same thoughts. We will be back!

  • Melissa R.

Stopped by for some drinks after kayaking. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a cool open air vibe. We were lucky enough to get some lounge seating on the dock along Shem Creek with a great water-front view. The drinks were actually very good too. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that we chose not to order food (so I cannot speak to the quality) and I cannot rate this any higher. Our waitress was much more interested in flirting and talking to locals that we waited 20 minutes in the 90 degree weather just to order a drink. Absolutely terrible service and I'm over it.

Went with a large group for a dual birthday party! Jammed packed on Friday night. Hostess, bartenders, and the wait staff were all great! Very nice renovations to the former restaurant. Amazing outside deck and bar area! Food was good, we tried almost everything on the menu. Kid's pizza, kid's mac and cheese, cornbread, deviled egg, pimento cheese and bacon jam, lobster beignets, mushroom flat bread, chicken wings, fried green tomato, kale and brussels salad, glazed cod, pollo a la brasa, chimmichurri salad, whole fish, and seared scallops. Whew! Yes we ordered all of this! I would give it a 3.5 if that was possible. I will be back!

Most of my ratings come from the ambiance, location and coastal atmosphere. Shem creek needed this space. I go here often for lunch with co workers since it's so close to the office. They did a great job with decor and spacing in the restaurant- it looks casual but nice at the same time. You should definitely get the Mac and cheese- it's delicious. I've tried multiple flatbreads- all solid. For a healthy option the kale and apple salad is really good, the steak salad is lacking not flavor in my opinion so it's not really my go to, neither is the chicken Chinese salad that they've added to their new menu. The Monte Carlo is a great flavorful filling Option as well. I think I've tried enough of the menu to stick with the things I like- I'll be back like clockwork I'm sure.

Interior design: Beautiful. Service: Bad. Food: Mediocre. I had a fig and prosciutto flatbread (for $14?). Couldn't tell what the white flavorless sauce on it was, the figs were cut in half and hard to chew. If you want an amazing fig & prosciutto pizza for $14, do yourself a favor and go out to Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan's Island. *That* is a fig & prosciutto pizza to die for. The service seemed clueless. From the three hostesses at the door who never greeted me or acknowledged our presence until after we went wandering around looking for seating and returned having found none at any of the bars. To the waitress who didn't seem to know the order of service or what was on the menu, and kept reaching across me with her elbow in my food to pour our water. The entire service was awkward from beginning to end. Concluding that this may just be the current place for scenesters - lots of beautiful people hanging around the bars - and not for food (tables not full on a Sat. evening). Oops, wasted our money here.

Lunch Edition: they have a nice lunch menu, and this is a great location to come on a sunny day for some afternoon eats. Much of the full menu is still available, just an addition of some really tempting sandwiches. I was a fan for dinner and I am a fan for lunch. My Cubano was a slam dunk. I thought I had the best Cuban in Miami (see my review for Las Olas Café) and while that was far more traditional, this one tops it (just better quality meats, pickles and mustard). I will say the BLT salad is a good idea, but needs some tweaking on the execution. The cold pork belly was a little surprising, though I am not sure what I expected in the first place, however the result is a dry chunk of meat. The pickled green tomato quarters are dense and literally hard to swallow as well. There has got to be a better way to execute this dish that doesn't leave your jaw sore. However, I really like it here and can't wait to come back and try more food because they really do a great job.

Atmosphere is pretty cool. The renovations look great. I was a cook here in high school when it was the Trawler and I could not have imagined a transformation like this. The food, for the price, is an embarrassment, but the service has been fine. I'm a food nut so that is why I only gave 2 stars. If you are looking for a cool place on the water to have a drink this is a good option. It will be crowded.

Awesome atmosphere have to try the gin and jam.... House made jam at that. Kinda drink that will make you want to slap someone because its so good. Plus you may not like America or puppies if you don't try the burnt end Mac and cheese.

The location is beautiful and the ambiance superb, the food on the other hand leaves much to be desired. We went there for the first time about a month after they opened. We loved everything about the place, except the food. Figured it may have just been the night so we tried it again this evening... Even worse this time around. Again the restaurant was beautiful and the appetizers were good but when it came time for the main dish there was nothing but disappointment with all six in our party. We really wanted to like the restaurant and add it to one of our regulars but unfortunately after the second disappointment we won't be back.

We enjoyed the Tavern and Table a lot. Very good food and service. The menu was a little intimidating for our four teenagers and they googled a lot of the descriptions but they dove in and enjoyed their meals. Our waiter - Justin is also worth mentioning. He was very knowledgeable and quite funny. I had the Scallops and grits - by far some of the best grits I have ever eaten. My husband had the hog snapper which looked horrible but he assured me it was delicious and ate every bit. My youngest son had the Prime Rib grinder which he loved. My other son had the chicken and he ate almost all of it which is unusual for him. I also recommend S'mores cupcake desert. We went there for my birthday and thought it was going to be a bust when we arrived and they did not have our reservation but they seated us right away and then we were disappointed again we learned they did not have the daily grind on Sunday's but Justin entertained and talked us through the menu and we ended up with the best meal of our vacation so far

Blah.... Food took an hour. Kale Brussel sprout salad was just gross, as well as the grape gazpacho. Brisket Mac n cheese was bland, tuna wrap underwhelming, and BBQ flatbread was ehhh. Server was amazing and atmosphere was beautiful. I will not eat here again.

John our waiter was one of the best servers I have ever had the pleasure of sharing a meal with. Gave great tips on what to do when we explore downtown tomorrow.

We are most definitely T&T fans! Delicious food, awesome service, wonderful decor, and you can't beat the view. Every time we come here it is packed, which I guess speaks for itself. I've had the burger, charcuterie plate, and flatbread and everything has been great. Definitely our favorite restaurant in the area!

Went for my friends birthday and the ambiance is great, the drinks are decent and the food is ok. Definitely not good enough for the price. Way over priced for what you get. The menu has no flow, it's a bunch of different things out together and makes so sense. For a "tavern" the food does not match the name at all. Service was very fast but we were very disappointed with the food overall. Will not go back.

Very very cool decor. Absolutely beautifully done. We sat outside on a rainy afternoon...since the patio was covered we still got a great view. I had their version of an old fashioned. It was tasty but very small amount for an $8-9 drink. Their cheese and Ritz cracker app was good. Out bartender was super friendly and made for great company and conversation as we were the only people at the bar.

On a day when I'd have preferred to stay at home and play Xbox in my nightshirt, some friends unfortunately called and invited me to try Tavern and Table. Not wanting to completely abandon some form of a social life, I begrudgingly accepted. So, I showered for the first time in days, sheared off my Osama bin Laden style beard and made the journey to Mt. Pleasant, a place so devoid of the truth that it makes my cold, dead heart hurt. When you first walk in, you'll notice how beautiful the place is and how lost the hostesses are. When I asked about my friends' table, she literally shrugged her shoulders said said "fuck if I know where they are" and told me to go find them. Isn't that your job? Too keep track of the tables? After finding them at the bar and waiting 3 days, we finally were seated and immediately seen by people we knew from law school. Just my fucking luck, right? And this is why I don't leave the house. The food at TT can be summed up in one word: carbs. Bread, bread, and fries. Maybe it was my new diet, but literally everyone at my table ordered bread and fries. And the fries, according to someone in my party, weren't even that good. That must explain why none of the employees were fats. And it's well known fact that the fatter the employees, the better the food. Just look at The Tattooed Moose. The special pork stew I ordered was fantastic, but because it wasn't a carb, it had no place on the menu. The rest of the menu was laughably expensive. $8 for a side of brussel sprouts? Were they coated in gold? TT gets 3 stars for charging me $16 for a bowl of stew, which likely means I'll be turning my heat back another degree or two to make up for it. My only hope now is I'll make it through the rest of the winter without catching pneumonia.

I'm a table of one and sometimes the service is lacking for just 1 person. My server was Helen, while she was very nice, I think she forgot about me. I've been sitting here for 30 minutes, no tea refill, no checking on me, nothing. I have tried to get her attention but I think she ignores me. Not even food. The people next too me, who came in at same time are paying their bill and they have 3 kids. Good, not great food, bad service.

Mmmm mmmm!! Comfort foods and healthy options the perfect combo to please everyone! Love the atmosphere and decor! This place would be great for a private dinner or meeting they have a separate inclosed room that is great for that! Loved my time at Tavern and Table!

Menu is limited. Dinner menu is pricey. Beet salad is amazing. We had clam flatbread. Really it was not even edible. I had a hamburger au jus. Just not good but the fries were excellent. Decor is great. Our server was good. Won't be back.

Lunched here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We tried various apps and first courses- Brussels sprouts, lobster beignets, pork belly poutine, etc. thrilled to see one of our favorite wallet-friendly wines on the list, Perrin & Fils Cote Du Rhone, which served as both our beverage and dessert. Terrific service, water views, and lovely interior decor.

I really truly wanted to like this place, but am sad to say that 2 stars is beyond generous. Our party of four made a reservation, and arrived fifteen minutes early to grab a drink at the bar. After finally flagging down the bar staff in the beyond crowded bar outside we were able to have maybe one or two sips of our average cocktails before our fifteen minutes was up and we went in to be seated. No dice. The totally useless hostesses were too busy gossiping about their drunken escapades to bother seating us or apologize for the delay. We weren't too fussed, it was busy and it happens, but after another fifteen minutes we checked in again to be totally brushed off rudely by the hostesses. If they looked up from their cell phones or stopped taking selfies for a hot second they might have noticed that it was over an HOUR after our reservation before we were seated. It took 20 min for a server to even give us water (we had to get up and get someone) and then another fifteen minutes before rushedly taking our order and disappearing. Our meal was poorly timed, took forever to arrive, and we had to shout the entire time because it was so ridiculously loud in there. I honestly almost lost my voice because of it and was hoarse by the end of the night. By the time we got our entrees it was a whopping 2+ hours after our res. In order to compensate for the time id had two more glasses of wine so maybe that explains why the food tasted pretty good, but I'd like to hope that it was because the kitchen sort of knew what they were doing. Our waitress never returned after giving us our entrees and we had to hunt her down for the check. My fiancé wanted to order dessert but we dissuaded him because it would've taken so long. We were not apologized to for rude, slow and downright neglectful service once, and the menu was way too long and confusing. I am so disappointed as I was looking forward to making this a regular hang out. The decor is great and they've really done a good job with the renovation but have fallen flat since. Very very hesitant to go back and deal with the insulting service. Don't waste your time.

Went There several times already.....things don't improve. They should know better by now. Brunch menu is just ok. I got a lamb burger. In that kind of establishment you would hope they serve it with a good quality bread. Their buns are the cheapest ones you can fond on the market. The waitress was nice, nothing much. On our way out, the kids left first. The hostess did not reply when they told her good bye. When I passed her, same thing. You would think her mom taught her the basics " thank you and good bye".....she looked busy doing ...nothing. Will not return.

We really wanted to like this place. The only thing that this restaurant really got right is the interior design. This place is beautifully designed and seems to have potential. In our experiences here this is just not the case. Good looks--save for the busted parking lot--did not translate very well to the service and sometimes the food. We have eaten here twice and will likely not return given our fortunate selection of other restaurants in the greater Charleston area. In both instances, the hostesses seemed bothered by seating us as they shove their phones back into their purse and into the podium behind them. They also seem ill trained on the reservation system as they took an awkwardly long time to find and assign seating both times we visited. Our first visit was around the first week of its opening. We had the Juicy Lucy burger, duck pastrami sandwich and we ordered Clementine Daisy Fresno. We had a great server and the food and drink were delicious. Just as with many new restaurants, a quality experience can be short lived. Due in part to the inattentive and space case server from our second visit here, we may not return; sensing an unstoppable downward spiral. The first issue was that while the waitress was taking our order she picked up my previously filled water glass from the table and slammed it onto a coaster. Pet peeve or otherwise, I found that to be quite rude. She didn't mention the daily grinds to us and the table near by had to ask her as well. The menu is confused. If you have an item listed as a BLT, most people think it is a sandwich not a salad. The menu is so convoluted that some of the flighty staff couldn't get out order straight, twice. We ordered the mac and cheese, cubano and the daily grind pork stew. She repeated the order back to us, then our food came out. Simple right? We received pork buns. Weird. Also when I bit into the chip it was a greasy piece of stale bread. When we flagged her down and told her that we had ordered the stew and mentioned that the chips were stale. She took the pork buns and came back and she stated that our pork miso soup would be out shortly. We told her that we didn't order pork miso soup (is that even on the menu?). She then proceeded to book it to the kitchen. Eventually we were served the pork stew and the fresher chips. The mac and cheese pasta did not seem to be cooked because the pasta was far under al dente. The cubano was good and the pork stew was fine as well. After we received the check, we promptly paid and left. Overall for the higher prices we have higher expectations.

Seemingly, when you walk in, this beautifully decorated restaurant with a gorgeous view looks to be the perfect place for a wonderful meal.... Oops! Did I forget to mention that none of the waitstaff have been trained nor do they understand what they are serving. If you want a good view and want to save some money go next door to Red's because you know no one has been trained or gives a damn, but neither do you!

Sunday brunch brought back a string of memories for me. I visited Tavern and Table for Mother's Day. Around 40 years ago I went to the same location when it was the Trawler Restaurant, one of the only places to go back in "the day". I had fond memories but really it was a glorified Fried Seafood joint like RBs and some of the others on the creek. Back then Charleston only had about 5 "fine dining" options and this was one of them. Mother's Day was their first day ever serving Brunch I believe and we were quite impressed. I had the Chilaquiles, which was red & green chili pork, corn tortilla, queso fresco, sour cream, cilantro, with a perfectly cooked baked egg. We did not have a reservation but we were the first people to get there for a 11am opening and were easily able to sit at the bar and got the best seats at the outside bar. Great spot with a nice breeze coming through the entire time. We had 5 people with us and the others got different meals including the T & T Omelet, and the Toad in the Hole. I had bites of each and the potatoes with the T & T were impeccable but the Omelette tasted too healthy. I like my veggies a little more cooked but it seemed like a good healthy choice. The Toad in the Hole was real nice and my sister was happy with that. We had a great view of the creek the entire meal along with great service by the bartenders as well. Good drink suggestions on the brunch menu which did not go to waste. Our group tried the Bloody Mary, the Thai Bellini, and the Man-Mosa which was probably the best. My sister felt a little funny getting a Man-mosa but it was great, refreshing, and really a good drink for brunch. We plan on coming back. Really a great spot and brought back a flood of memories and the food was probably 10 times better than the old Traweler Restaurant of days gone by..

The building has been renovated and the interior has a very modern and cool design. That's where the quality ends. Be sure to stop by to see the interior design and walk through the lovely restaurant and go straight to the bar to order a drink. Don't bother ordering from the menu. The food quality was on par with Chipolte and Applebees. Our server did not have his head in the game. The order came back wrong and he kept forgetting the little things we'd asked for. My Ahi Tuna Wrap was so blah and uninteresting and served with a side salad that had brown iceberg lettuce. Really disappointing experience and especially low quality for foodie town.

This place was amazing, complimentary valet parking and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door even though we were late for our reservations. I had the blueberry lemonade cocktail and it was very refreshing. We started with the brussel sprouts and I could have seriously just eaten 2 bowls of those. They had mustard bacon and parmesean cheese on the roasted brussel sprouts. I then spilt the pollo a la brasa with my mom, the chicken was juicy while the skin was crispy and delicious. The side was duck fat fries and while they were delicious I was expecting something a little more indulgent/rich, they just seemed like normal fries. We all shared the homemade t&t candy bar, the chocolate and peanut butter mousse was delicious but the rice krispy part seemed like it needed to sit out and get room temperature because my sister videotaped us trying to get our spoons through that layer. All in all we had a great time, the decor is very appealing and taking pictures on the back porch over the water is beautiful!

Visit 1: Exquisite decor and ambience and beautiful views of Shem for my little one to "find the mermaids" while the adults enjoyed our dinner. HOWEVER on our first visit, we called and made reservations for a party of 8 outside..we were told great and time confirmed. We get there and they tried to seat us inside..we said no we made res for outside we have out of town guests. WELL to our dismay they only take res for inside and the hostess who answered the phone apparently didn't relate the correct info (or know the correct info) to us. SO we waited 2 HOURS for a table outside (only 2 tables would fit our group size) and it is first come first serve, so the 2 college kids that were drinking a beer at the table for 10 were allowed to sit there and hold their table for an hour and a half till their friends got off school. We on the other hand had to wait for the secondary table because this is all legit there. The food nailed it though. The crab dip appetizer was the best Ive ever had and I went with a boring steak salad for dinner which just was amazing and over the top!!! ALL 8 of our group raved about their meals and the dessert was unbelievable. Our out of town guests said this was the best food they've had in Charleston to date. Visit 2: Knowing what I know about outdoor seating, we waited for a table for an hour while having drinks (party of 4 at 1pm week day)..not annoyed though cause it was expected. It was worth the wait to be seated near the water..UNTIL a huge boat parked in front and blocked the whole view of Shem..to my dismay (we brought another couple from out of town who are amazed at dolphins) BUT more so my 18 month old LOST her mind when she couldn't "see the mermaids" and I ended up walking and standing in front of Reds in the cigarette smoke most of my stay. All I kept thinking was its worth the wait, its worth a view of a side of a boat now because the crab dip will make it all better...well..they changed their menu in the 2 weeks we had visited and now had no similar replacement to that type of food. TOTALLY disappointing and regretful that we just didn't go somewhere else. Its like one or the other, but you cant have it all.

The food and service were excellent for our party of 12 Sunday lunch! Our waitress was courteous, accurate, and there were always extra waitpersons to bring meals, water, and clear. I had the Chimichura Steak Salad that was an amazing blend of tastes with baby arugula, roasted corn, cherry tomatoes, dried cherries, pumpkin seeds, couscous and of course tender steak. The only slight disappointment was the amount of arugula. I personally felt there should have been a bit more for a "salad". The new look for this iconic Shem Creek building is well planned and very well executed with a sort of rustic elegance. The only Decor faux pas was the rippled glass divider between the bar and the dining area near the brick oven. The trendy divider perfectly blocks any chance for diners to see the waterfront! (This and the arugula deprivation were the only reasons for a 4 out of 5 rating) We will be back!

The best food I've had on Shem Creek in a very long time! My boyfriend and I went to dinner with another couple on a Thursday evening. We did have quite a wait, but that's understandable as we didn't have a reservation. The hostess stand did seem a little flustered, and we waited longer than what we were initially told. It was all good though because we were able to get drinks and a Skillet Of Cornbread at the bar. Cornbread was so good and presented in a cute little skillet. The Strawberry Blond cocktail was very good too, sweet, but tasty! We all already knew what we wanted, but everything sounded delicious! Here's what we had: Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Deviled Egg Trio, Cheese and Charcuterie Plate, Pork Belly Steam Buns, and "Burnt End" Mac + Cheese. For four of us, this was actually a lot of food! I'd say my least favorite was the Pork Belly Steam Buns. They were good, but I wouldn't order them again. Everything was Amazing though!! The way the first two pages of the menu- snacks, small plates, and from the brick oven works is when it's ready it comes out. So you don't get everything at once. This is nice for two reasons, you are not bombarded with five plates of food at once and you don't know what will come out first. It's tasty surprise! For dessert we got the Smore's to share, I want to go back just to eat this again! We were all so excited to eat that we only got one picture, the Cheese & Charcuterie Plate. Our server, Scott, was wonderful! He knew the answers to all of our questions and he had a great sense of humor! Wonderful service Scott!! Definitely looking forward to going back!

We had a party of nine, and for the most part, the meal and service were relatively enjoyable. The "small plates" of brisket mac and cheese and the flatbreads were tasty and more reasonably priced than the appetizers (charcuterie/cheese plate, and a cheese plate), which were a bit skimpy for the price. The meats weren't listed on the menu, and liver pate was a disappointing "choice" (theirs, not ours) for one of the four meats (and wasn't eaten by anyone at the table). The waiter, who was nice in general, noticed our lack of zest for the liver, but didn't acknowledge that disappointment. Good draft beer choice, complete with hefty downtown-like Charleston prices. All in all, a nice place with a good view, and a neat ambience, but a bit pricey and food was fine, but not stellar.

The location, interior, and service are excellent. Unfortunately for our group, the quality of the food was not in line with the price. We did enjoy our appetizers and I chose to eat two small plates instead of an entrée. The pork buns were tasty but the ceviche was lacking seasoning and citrus that I expected. Others in the group were not impressed with their entrees. I sampled two but they were just OK. I would go back for drinks appetizers and small plates but probably not dropping 3 bills again here for dinner.

Loved last nights dinner here! We had a group of 13 which can sometimes be difficult on a busy Saturday night but it was seamless! Our service was great and all of the food was so amazing as well! We sat outside on the porch and the atmosphere and energy was fantastic! Shem creek was in major need of a happening place like this that's not only seafood and beer! We will be back!

2+ stars. 30's crowd. Beautiful new place on shem creek. One large bar indoors, one outside and a small bar with a pizza oven. Bartenders were great, never had to wait for a drink. Then things took a turn for the worst when we were seated to have dinner. We were in the dining room across from the bar and for some reason the tables against the wall were extremely loud while the ones closest to the bar were not. All the tables are loud in the bar area but if you are against the wall forget about talking. To start our table ordered- *country biscuit. It was stone hard and came with some kind of congealed jelly/cream cheese mass. It was so hard we sent it back. *Brussel Sprouts, basically the sprouts loaded with cheese on top and broiled. 1 out of the 4 diners liked this. * Shrimp Beignets, we all liked these but 10.00 for 3 small beignets was a bit pricey. *Steam buns. The inside was pork belly and tasty but the outside was raw dough. And the raw dough was hard. Not good. *Fig and Proscuitto flat bread. This was actually very good. Although, I am not sure how any kitchen could mess this up. * Red Curry Clams... All I can say for these is RUN. Don't eat them. I had two and immediately tasted metal in my mouth and refused to eat any more of them. They were left on the table. The bread that came with them was either the flat bread they use for the 'pizza' or just something hanging around the kitchen. It was so stale and thin that even dropping it into the vile broth could not soften them up. Lastly, 3 diners ordered double cheeseburgers. The server never asked how we wanted them cooked and we didnt think to ask, (dumb) 2 of the burgers were so burnt that they crumbled when we tried to eat them and the 3rd was completely raw. When I say raw, I mean the plate was swimming in burger blood. It was so bad that the manager came out and apologized to us. They also serve fries in duck fat with the burgers, but what we got was shoestring from a bag and again totally stale. ** Food zero stars ** Hostess at the front 5 stars ** Bartenders 5 stars ** Server 3 stars, she tried but didnt know the menu, didnt ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked and was gone for most of the time. ** Valet 0 stars they werent parking cars as they were eating two large subs when we pulled up and didnt even look at us. ** Manager 3 stars for coming out to apologize to us and taking 2 things off of our bill. But he should be looking at what the heck the kitchen is sending out. Overall, I would definitely go back for drinks and maybe a flat bread. Hopefully they will get someone in the kitchen that is looking at the food before it goes out.

Amateur hour, a total disaster Tavern and Table holds so much promise; its located on Shem Creek, has an ambitious menu, and boasts a nice, inviting bar and restaurant. Sadly for the owners, Charleston is an eating destination, and if you decide to go big, you better deliver. Where to begin; I ordered a martini and it arrived in an oversized glass filled only ¼ of the way to the top. I get that Charleston isn't Vegas; but if you are going to give me a short pour, do it in a rocks glass, not in a jumbo cocktail glass. It's a mood killer; and even if it is a regulation "bar rescue" pour, I feel cheated to start the meal. Strike one. The menu is eclectic and ambitious. You can get lost on the appetizer page and end up staying there. We settled on ham and cheese cracklings, sweetbread lettuce wraps, chicken wings and pork sticky buns. The ham and cheese cracklings arrived first. They were bland and uninspired. The cheese dip they came with was tasteless. I've eaten better pork rinds from a gas station, and paul newman's queso in a jar would have provided more flavor. The pork sticky buns were likewise uninspired and flavorless; the chef sliced off a quarter inch of pork belly, dipped it into some sweet sauce, added a pickle and threw it between a homemade tortilla. If I were blindfolded, I would have wagered that I was eating at sonic. Sadly, this was the best thing we ordered. One item on the menu that I looked forward to ordering was the charcuterie plate. The selection varies daily, and on their way to the dining room guests walk past a window containing curing hams and salamis. So I was somewhat surprised when I asked what four items were available and was told chicken liver mouse, pork pate, chicken liver pate and some kind of maple sausage. No salami, no ham, Spanish or Virginia, no soprasat or capicola. Three out of the four choices were pates or mouse. A curious selection, and a turn off for many diners. Although I didn't partake in the sweetbread lettuce warps, my dining companions complained that putting the warm sweetbreads onto the lettuce wilted the leaves. They also were suspicious that the delicate sweetbreads were drenched in sweet kung pao style sauce, rather than a light glazing. What are they hiding? The steak tartar likewise suffered from the same sweet salty schizophrenia; cut into chunks like tuna poke, rather than finely ground, it was coated with marmalade, obscuring the taste of the meat. The last item ordered were the sticky chicken wings, which were, by far the worst smelling dish I ever encountered at any restaurant. Frankly, they smelled like death, or a cross between rank b.o. and rotten cheese. The smell was so off putting that when the plate hit the table it killed my appetite for the evening. I asked for the manager, and she came over, a pleasant, clueless millennial better suited to barista work at Starbucks. I asked her why the chicken wings smelled so bad, and was it fish sauce that the chef was using. She told me that it was "umami" . I asked her if umami was fish sauce, and she told me "yes, it was." After recounting our disappointment with the meal, the manager smiled and said, "Well thanks for coming in, sorry it didn't work out for you." No free desert, no free drink, no "please come back next time. Just "Sorry it didn't work out for you." Note to the idiot manager and the chef who pays her salary: Umami isn't fish sauce, and telling your customers that it is, only makes you and the restaurant seem like amateurs. Here is a definition I googled in two seconds on the internet. If you are going to manage a restaurant, you should know what the heck you are talking about. Note the words, "subtle" and pleasant" not overpowering and nauseating." "Taking its name from Japanese, umami is a pleasant savory taste imparted by glutamate, a type of amino acid... As the taste of umami itself is subtle and blends well with other tastes to expand and round out flavors, most people don't recognize umami when they encounter it, but it plays an important role making food taste delicious." So whatever it was that the chef was using, go ahead and keep using it, but please alert your customers with either a description, a biohazard icon or a skull and crossbones. With so many outstanding restaurants to choose from in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant, and having had such a disappointing experience I cant see ever going back to Tavern and Table.

The space is stunning. Top drawer and totally perfect spot on Shem Creek. Here is where you fell short. Your waitstaff and especially your bar staff are completely unprofessional. The first question when someone orders a glass of wine is NOT, how will you pay for it? In addition. your cocktails are amateur and not good. I would rework the entire list unless you want to feel like a college bar. The menu was interesting, but FULL of pork. In addition, there were some very interesting choices but the layout didn't make sense to me. I got the Kale and Brussel sprout salad, which was very tasty. My friend got the steak salad, there was no salad. It was a beautiful arrangement of items, very well done, but perhaps marketed incorrectly. You have a wonderful opportunity to be a great spot, but your staff from the hostess station to the bar needs training on how to treat, greet and serve customers. Do this well, and no one in Mt. Pleasant can hold a candle. Also, turn down the pork and try more by the sea options, as you have fresh catch right across the creek.

The food is pretty good but I appreciate the atmosphere more than anything. You can't find many places on the water like this in charleston! At this point I've been so many times I've almost had everything on the menu. I highly recommend the pimento cheese and bacon jam, corn bread skillet, and if you're into ginger beer you must get the gin and jam cocktail!

    1. Staff very inexperienced - server offered raw carrots to my 13 month old after we turned away asparagus!! 2. Expensive duck meatloaf burnt on top - who is overseeing the food prep? My expectations were high. 3. Charged $5 for a sliced Apple for baby...totally ridiculous and made them change it. 4. Small serving sizes not commensurate with high price 5. Had to ask for ketchup with fries would think that you wouldn't have to ask that it would be served along side. Also, fries didn't hold their heat. 6. They claim to grind their meat daily well they forgot to season the meat for the hamburger. 7. Hostess / staff not attentive even after expressing mediocrity of establishment 8. Other restaurants in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant much better and they better get their act together....fast or they too will not be here long. Nice interior and maybe a cool new place but all else was disappointing.

Walked in optimistic. Decor was right out of restoration hardware. Menu was eclectic but I wasn't deterred. It was amateur hour when it came to service but hey a new restaurant gets a pass right. Then I got my food. Everything had an identity crisis. The attempt at being chic by pairing saltys and sweets was painfully obviously and a real palate killer. Popcorn was soggy and awful. Oysters were so rich the flavor of the oyster was nonexistent. Flatbread was bland, undercooked and underwhelming. Hate to drop a negative review but Charleston has too many top notch restaurants to waste your time here.

We (party of 5) made reservations online (which I am a big fan of!) and were taken straight to our table when we arrived. We had three appetizers and they were pretty good. Lobster wontons were the best thing we had the entire meal! Pimento cheese with bacon jam was good but wasn't a huge fan of the sweetness of the bacon jam. Deviled egg trio was good, not great.... But good. For our meals we got duck meatloaf which was very good - by far the best entree we had. 2 folks got the butchers cut burger and they were good. However they come with a sauce and a spread that have a sweetness that neither person cared for. One person got the double double burger and it was not good. Over cooked the beef and the bum was stale and hard on top. I had the burnt ends mac and cheese and did not care for it. The mac and cheese sauce had very little flavor and again the meat had a very sweet flavor that I did not feel fit the dish at all. Overall I was pretty disappointed. The place looks great and we need something like that on the creek. But I was disappointed in the food and thought it was a bit pricey for what you got. Total bill for 5 with only water to drink was $150.

The transformation from the old restaurant is unbelievable! Very nice decor, cumfie chairs, great food and service. Oh did I mention the VIEW! Brilliant idea to turn the bars around so the GUEST sees the Creek! Great job, we'll be back...soon!

If your looking for all American food you are in the wrong place. If you like your chef to be creative in food pairings this is your place. On a late Saturday afternoon this place was hopping. They have a phenomenal bar staff that works like a well oiled machine. We sat at the bar so we didn't need to wait for a table. I had the shrimp and grits. Excellent! My friend had the fig flatbread which was delicious The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. How can you beat the views along Shem Creek. For you gastronomes this is the place for you. It will quickly become one of your favs

Went for lunch, all small plates selected. Dishes were sizable, but felt I was in a Chinese restaurant. Salty/sweet was over the top. The oysters had a sauce that totally took out the flavor of them. The chicken skin tacos were sickly sweet sauced. The pork belly steam buns were good. The mac & cheese had under cooked pasta, no cheese flavor, just a hunk of stringy short ribs with a sweet b-b-q sauce...bad. The sweetbreads with lettuce cups were tough and tasteless with a soy sauce and serrano peppers. The lettuce was almost chopped up so impossible to roll them in it. .all the dishes were served at almost room temp. except the mac & cheese. Not planning to return, $$$ and the entree prices looked high too. Need seafood on the menu....

I'm about to give up on this place. I live in Mount Pleasant so I end up here frequently with friends for drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful and the drinks are really good, too. The service has improved significantly since they first opened but the food continues to be terrible and overpriced. I have tried so many things on this menu and NOTHING has ever been anything better than mediocre. Most of it has been downright awful. The best thing I've had is the scallops. They're good, but not nearly as good as what you can get elsewhere in town. Ditto for the brussel sprouts and the macaroni & cheese. It's all just okay but not great. The steak "salad" would be better if you actually got some salad with it. You hardly get any greens at all, but you'll get enough pumpkin seeds to feed 20 seagulls when you walk outside on the dock. The worst thing I've had by far is the beef Pho. The broth tasted like water and there was so little meat in the bowl that after eating everything I could shove in my mouth (beef, noodles, bean sprouts, even a mouthful of herbs) I was still hungry. REALLY hungry. And that bowl of pho costs $30. It's not worth half that, and I have seriously made better, more flavorful Pho in my own kitchen. It's turned into a joke with my friends that we'll go there in a heartbeat to have drinks and hang out but no one wants to actually eat there. I really wish they'd get it together in the kitchen because this place has so much potential! New chef, please. Or at least revamp the menu.

With as many restaurants as there are in the Charleston area...you must go the extra mile to really stand out and tavern and table does exactly that. We had a party of 6 tonight and for some reason our reservation was lost, however that did not stop T&T from providing us the best customer service possible. With a packed restaurant, Ginger, created a space for us outside where there was none. She set up table and chairs to accommodate us with practically zero wait time. The food was great and the waiter (justin a.) And his service was impeccable. We will be back this weekend to celebrate easter and we will be hosting my friends 40th in their private T &T room. Very impressed to say the least.

Excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I have Celiac so the manager personally walked through the menu with me and there are a lot of options for gluten free. They actually have two gluten free dessert options that aren't sorbet or creme brûlée. Unique cocktail list, good wine list and lots of great beers if that is your thing. I highly recommend it.

This place is AWESOME!!! The food is wonderful and tasty! The restaurant is next to Shem Creek and if you are lucky enough, you could see Henry the Dolphin at the edge of the patio! The TNT dessert is great and the drinks are gone in a slurp! If you have a long wait, you can get drinks out on the patio. A very sweet place for 4-6 people in a group. We all highly recommend this AWESOME restaurant!

The place is beautiful, except a good portion of the seating is too close to the bar. I am not looking to spend $30 or more per person and listen to bar chatter and watch sports on TV. The wine list was poor, not a lot to choose from. We tried several items from the menu - Skillet Cornbread, Lump Crab dip(everyone at the table was pretty happy with this), Chimichurri steak salad (which could have been stellar but the couscous was so bland, definitely in need of salt), Fried Chicken Sandwich (too many good places to go for good fried chicken; this not being one of them, 1/2 rack Ribs (delicious sauce), and Short rib grilled cheese (well short of what you'd want in a grilled cheese). There are too many other restaurants to try, so I don't think I'd put this in my rotation of regulars.

Shem Creek is a great location. It was too cold to sit on the patio which was a shame because I was told it really makes the experience that much better. Service was excellent. The wait staff were helpful and informative. The food was good, we had the charcuterie and cheese plate (not a lot of cheese, next time we will just get the meat) and steak tartare. Spices were spot on and the combinations of flavors and textures were unique and appealing. Dessert was great. Decor was fun and trendy. The only issue we had was the noise. It was hard to have a conversation. We plan to go back in the spring and check out the patio.

Great addition to Shem Creek. The space has been beautifully restored, so definitely take a minute to look/walk around while you're there. I went with a large party of 8 on a Saturday night, and we were quickly shown to our table. We have to push back our reservation a few times because of some late arrivals, but they were very nice and accomodating. It might have been because it was 9 o'clock and they didn't have any reservations after us, but either way, it was appreciated. This is a good place for large groups that like to share, as many of their dishes are small plates that are good to pass around the table and have everyone get a bite. We started with the skillet cornbread and pimento cheese w/ bacon jam, both of which were very good. The cornbread was moist and sweet, while the bacon jam added a nice touch to the pimento. The menu can be constructed in different ways, depending on what you're looking for. Some people in my party got two small plates, others a small plate & a salad and some went straight for the entrees. I went for the duck meatloaf, which was delicious. It is a generous portion, on top of mashed potatoes and topped with a good size piece of foie gras. Definitely enough to fill you up and recommended.

Not just ANY port in the storm. Tavern and Table is THE port in the storm. After several consecutive 500+ mile days, I found my way to T&T... What a spectacular landing for the night. I thought I had enjoyed the best burger of my life at a spot in Knoxville, TN... And perhaps I had at that point in the game. But tonight, things changed. The Butcher's Cut Burger was amazing(there would be some colorful adjectives if I didn't think I'd offend)! For starters, the brioche was spectacularly fresh but with meat ground in-house, crumbled blue cheese, truffle vinaigrette and red wine jam the bun is just beginning! The flavors meld perfectly and the finish is nothing short of a work of art. I came for a burger and I left with an experience. If you find yourself in the area, as a local or weary traveler this is a must!

It's 11pm. We just got back from T&T. We arrived just before 8pm, so that might give you some idea of how long everything took. We had already been at our table for over an hour before we received our entrees. Granted, we did have appetizers before that. My husband and I shared the cheese and charcuterie board. It was okay. Four tiny toasted slices of bread were certainly not enough for 2 cheeses and 4 meats, plus the toppings. The pickled asparagus and what I believe were strawberries, had an interesting taste. Not quite sure how to describe them. I'm sure that I wouldn't order that again. My mom had the BLT salad, and said that it was pretty good. When we finally received our entrees, my husband and mom were less than impressed with their burgers. My husband was actually disappointed. My mom's was missing some toppings. It's kind of sad when you like the fries more than the "gourmet" burger. I had the duck meatloaf. That was actually pretty decent! I loved the sauce that it came with. I really wanted to order dessert before we left, but my husband was grumpy. I don't blame him. Our food, aside from my entree, was "meh", and our waitress, although very nice, wasn't all that attentive. So he was ready for the check so we could GO! I think if I ever come back, which is a possibility... I would like to lean towards trying more of the snack and small plate menu.

Much better restaurant than reviews. Had really wonderful meal in which we ordered many different plates: deviled eggs, charcuterie with cheese, Brussels and kale, Mac and cheese, burger, flatbread, steak salad, and cod special. All were delicious. Especially loved the Brussels and kale salad which was light but flavorful and the killer pork Mac and cheese. The cod special was very tasty and should become a regular on the menu. For dessert we had the s'mores cupcake and pecan/almond pie.....OMG!!! Hard to decide which was better......really loved the pie. Service was attentive but a little less than perfect....should improve with time. Noise level a bit high but crowded Friday night. Will definitely return and recommend it to others..

One of the best restaurants to happen to Shem Creek in a while. The food was so-so, but the drinks are excellent & ambiance is perfect. The hostess at the outdoor station couldn't seem to be bothered to interrupt the text she was sending to acknowledge us & offer us a table. Even after completing her personal business on her phone, the hostess didn't apologize, but in all honesty it's nearly impossible to stop a 19 year old from being permanently attached to their phones. I'll definitely go again, just for the view & drinks, not the average customer service.

Read the other reviews - you'll glean this is a new place, though as of this writing it has been open almost 6 months. T&T opened with the purposeful intent to differentiate itself from Shem Creek's other choices: Fried food, linen covered tables, boutique speakeasy's, rooms with a view, and snacks on the dock. It's designed to stimulate your conversation, palate, and experience. It's our areas most "metropolitan" cuisine and ambience. Definitely a challenging objective for a most challenging clientele. T&T excels at being different. It is a gorgeous place. It's menu creatively circles the wagons with fresh ingredients and presentations beginning with starters and ending with desserts. You can feel the difference as soon as you walk in. The place is abuzz with conversation at the tables, bars, dining rooms, and on the deck. You can observe patrons engaged with each other, oohing and aahing when their food arrives, servers talking to their tables, bartenders making friends, and managers bustling. You're immediately filled with high expectations and a stimulated appetite. The menu is promising, especially after your server or host highlights the chef's attention to local, fresh ingredients and twists you might never have thought of. Yet, there is a warm familiarity to it, too. Who hasn't seen flatbread, burgers, salads, porterhouses, seasonal soups, ribs, pork-filled sweet buns, and ganache? But every plate that passes or arrives at your table has a fresh presentation and a chef's touch. Very important, very refreshing. That's my point. It will take more than one visit to discover you like every room, either bar, the oyster bar this time, a new cocktail or wine recommendation, the charcuterie appetizer, or all the servers. Because T&T will offer you a fresh new experience every time. On your first visit, I suggest you adjust your expectations. It is not "Shem Creek," the old Trawler, formal dining, or what you are necessarily used to. Instead, arrive excited, with an open mind, appetite. thirst, patience, and a creative point of view. Relax, enjoy yourself, the conversation and the friends you came in with. I THINK YOU'LL LEAVE MOST SATISFIED.

A friend and I visited Tavern and Table for the first time yesterday. We don't see each other often, so on the occasion that we are able to successfully get together for lunch we are guilty of visiting for 20-30 minutes before we even think about looking at the menu. Our server was gracious and attentive, but not annoyingly so, and when we finally ordered, our meal arrived quickly and correctly. My friend had the oriental vegetable flatbread--delicious and beautifully appetizing. We both had the butternut squash soup, tasty, with the nice stir-in touch of olive oil, lump butternut squash, and an herbal purée. The soup was just a tad thick in my opinion, but that did not deter our enjoyment of it at all. My kale and Brussels sprouts salad was so yummy--only one complaint: very gritty. I suspect it was the kale--difficult to get rinsed completely free of grit, but a little more attention would do it. Absolutely love the finishes inside and out--can't wait to go back and try more menu items!

After reading some of the reviews I wasn't quite sure how my experience would be, but I have to say--I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! A friend and I went on a busy Sunday night, thinking the wait would be really long so we put our names down and went to the outside bar to enjoy a cocktail. Bar service was quick and the drinks were amazing! Their cocktail list has something for everybody, so much so that I had a tough time picking which one to order! *The Collins is my #1 now* After only about 30 minutes (we would have waited longer-- it's the best atmosphere) we were seated on the deck outside. Jaquie was our waitress and she is the best!!! She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestions on what to order. We took all of her recommendations and that fig flat bread was exactly what I wanted! I will definitely be back for that again. My friend got the kale salad and it tasted as good as it looked! SO DELICIOUS! Overall, we had a great experience and will be back for sure!

Stopped in for Sunday brunch at the outside bar. Business was steady but not crazy busy. Started with the cinnamon roll which was really good; just the right amount of icing. Next was the shrimp and grits which was excellent; the spices and cheese add a special unique character. The one big hiccup was the service level. While several of us were waiting the bartender kept talking to someone her age (and they weren't even eating) instead of serving the rest of the clientele which was older. Had to wait almost 10 minutes to order my first drink and a very long time to get my check. Hoping this was a one time event as I really like how the setting on Shem Creek.

Tavern & Table is beautifully decorated inside, the view is amazing, the staff is nice and the drinks are awesome. The food is good, its not the best food in all of Charleston, but it is all very good - especially their pimento cheese with bacon jam. I love this place and i'll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I went for some cocktails and appetizers at Tavern and Table this evening. The food was delectable...cheese plate, fig and prosciutto flatbread, and Brussels all cooked and presented perfectly. We ate every bite. Our service from Derek and Cassandra at the bar was fantastic as well. We never waited for a drink and they made wonderful recommendations. All and all I would vote this a wonderful experience!

The view and overall appearance of this place is fantastic. Grab a cocktail, sit on the plush outdoor couches. Unfortunately, the food and the service need some work. We ordered all the small plates for our table. The sesame sticky wings were dry & over cooked. The burnt ends Mac & cheese was oddly sweet. The kung pao lettuce wraps had a bizarre consistency. Moral of the story: go for drinks and hope they get a new chef soon so the food improves.

Today was my husband's birthday. We wanted to have a special dinner. He chose to visit Tavern and Table. What a great choice! The service was OUTSTANDING! Our server, Ashley, was spot on. Food was delivered in a timely fashion and was Delicious. In our party of four, no one was able to finish the portions served. The interior design was amazingly beautiful. Those of you who had an experience unequal to ours...all I can say is try it again. We love to eat at the great places in the low country, part of the reason we moved here. Tavern and Table is one of thos great places.

This new restaurant is beautiful and found on Shem Creek. The fresh modern decor is complemented by a very eclectic and American style food that's a nice different taste from your traditional seafood joint on Shem Creek. I was very impressed with the food as well as the staff!

My wife and I were showing visitors around Mt P and had to include Shem Creek. We were very pleased to see that Tavern in table and open. We only sat at the outside bar and had appetizers and drinks. I took my wife, Mother-in-law, son and daughter-in-law to this newest addition to Shem Creek dining, 20 Mar, 7:00 pm. I was anticipating a much better selection of seafood, and was very disappointed--they don' even have fried shrimp, or flounder, or grouper, or salmon or red snapper, and they have a beautiful setting on Shem Creek with all the shrimp/fishing boats!! Their menu is a bit eclectic, which is ok, but after all they are in the heart of seafood country on "the Creek"!! The service and staff were very good as was the quality of the food we ordered. We were there on a Fri with beautiful weather and I think have of Mt Pleasant was there too. While the atmosphere and interior design are very nice, the noise level was atrocious. They need to put in some sound absorbing material that compliments the decor. We were inside on the upper level behind the bar, and we could hardly carry on a conversation. I will try them again in the future to see if they have made any changes. Dale A. Green

Atmosphere is fantastic. We have fond memories of a former restaurant housed in the building and called, "The Trawler." Reserved a table outside, but the front desk didn't know of my request, even though I called back to confirm. Food was too salty, salty, salty. Sure wish they would cut down on the salt and add some seafood, then we will be back.

My husband and I were not impressed. The space is very pretty, nice atmosphere...but the food failed to wow us and I doubt we will bother going back unless we really want to eat on Shem Creek.. We were there on Valentines Day so it was a special menu. We had the Burrata (rather small portion, and not served with any type of bread to soak up the pesto or cheese so we asked for some and received 4 small hard bread crisps. If you have had the burrata at Indaco don't order it here bc you will be sadly disappointed. There was also a puff pastry thing on the plate with some tomato jam in it...it tasted like pepperridge farm puff pastry from the freezer section of the grocery store!), the Tuna Crudo (bland, unimpressive and kind of weridly dry), the French Onion soup (it was good, prob the best thing we ordered), and we had Kale & brussel sprout Ceasars for our entrees (which wasn't horrible but nothing special...I didn't like the chic pea things in there that seemed hard like pebbles, the brussels were very cold also, but the dressing was good and the garlic was too). Its a shame bc Shem Creek desperately needs a restaurant with actual good food!

Would really do 2-1/2 stars. Decor tasteful and location excellent on the water. Great "feel" inside. Service very attentive. Food? Advertised lump crabmeat dip showed no lumps and taste was off-putting/old. Lettuce wraps with kung pao sweetbreads looked great, and sweetbreads were crisp and spice level was good, but somebody let loose with the salt. Suggest lower-sodium soy and this could be a real winner. Grilled cheese and brisket sandwich was delicious -- hot, tender and a little bit of the onion jus added fine flavor to an already-terrific combination.

While the location, atmosphere and scenery are great, the food and service left much to be desired. They did a really nice job with the outdoor area and along the creek (although I'll only go by on my boat come summer as it's gonna be a zoo out there) and the dining room area is large and roomy. Maybe our server was new, but she wasn't very knowledgable on some of the menu items. She also debated with one of our guests that the wine she served was what was ordered (which it was not....) We got the charcuterie plate which was OK, nothing great. 2 in the party got burgers which sounded better on the menu than they actually were (they grind their own burger, gristle and all. Some of the gristle remains chunky in the burger and you have to pick it out of your mouth if you don't like chewing gristle) 1 sweetbreads lettuce wrap (way too much sauce). 1 scallops. This was the best item we tried. Finally, it took forever to for us to get our check. I actually had to flag down another server to ask her to take care of it for us. This just added to the opinion that we had a poor server. So, while the atmosphere was enjoyable, the food/service was not very good. We really wanted to like the place and we did for the drinks but the combination of bad food and poor service cost it some stars.

Had dinner during restaurant week. The place is huge, roomy, clean. The staff was very efficient, helpful, and pleasant. The food was tremendous. I had the short ribs which were delicious. Others in our party had the shrimp and grits, duck meatloaf, and the roasted chicken. Everyone loved their meals! This place sits on Shem Creek in a great location. I can't wait until the warmer months get here because they have a huge outside area that will be a ton of fun!

First, the positives; Creative menu, nice, new interior. Obvious that they spent a lot of money on the interior. Will be great to be able to sit creekside when it gets warmer. Very busy bar area. Now the negatives; service was slow and everything was done wrongly. Our entree's came to us maybe 30 seconds after they delivered our appetizers. When we questioned the timing, the response was "well, do you want us to keep your entree's under the heat lamp until you're ready? As if anyone would want a fish dish sitting under a heat lamp for 20 minutes! The whole fish was delicious, but over priced at $40.00. One of the floor managers came over to see us and discuss the unfortunate timing of our meal. We thought that he was offering us a bottle of wine on the house. We said that we didn't need a whole bottle, maybe just two glasses of your house Pinot. The bill came, and those two glasses of wine were on the bill! Thanks a lot! Hint: Don't accept a seat in the smaller dining room. The acoustics are terrible. we had to shout to each other, yet we could hear every word from the table across the aisle. In all fairness, after seeking out Andy (one of the owners) he did the right thing and comped our drinks. So, I'll try it again because the food was very good, but I'll sit outside or in the main dining room. I suggest "boot camp" for the front of the house, but the back of the house seems to be humming.

Reading the wide variety of ratings given this restaurant is a surprise as we had a wonderful lunch experience. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately by a sunny window. Our server, Staci, was very attentive and helpful throughout the meal. One of our choices was the Chimichurri Steak Salad with pearl couscous, charred sweet corn, sour cherries, toasted pumpkin seeds, oven roasted tomatoes, arugula, basil buttermilk dressing. The presentation was exceptional with each ingredient making up a rainbow of color. The different tastes complimented one another, I would never thought of putting those ingredients together. The dressing was on the side and the steak was done to perfection. The other choice was the fish and chips which was excellent with moist and tasty fish in a tasty light batter. The homemade chips were the best I have had, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of salt. For dessert we had the Panna Cotta, read the description on the menu, and it was as good as we imagined it would be. The one suggestion we have is to include more wines by the glass on the wine list. The ambiance is very nice as the remodeling was very well done. You don't normally expect a Shem Creek restaurant to compete with downtown but in this case it certainly did.

Service was ok but our sever wasn't very well versed and also seemed confused about a lot of the menu items .. Didn't know what some ingredients in the dishes were we got uh uh uh it's some kind of cheese....wow really...atmosphere is wonderful , amazing even ! But the real downer was the food chef needs to be in LA or NYC this menu style is overly sweet and savory and the fusions are very odd flavors are covered up by unknown ingredients and just over all not right for this area second I felt it was slightly over priced . Almost 50$ for a 16oz steak...is there gold laced sauce ???? NO it's just ok...they need to take notes from graze now that's a steak! Macaroni was way undercooked and also felt the beef has an unpleasant sweetness...lobster wontons were soggy but flavorful.spiced nuts for $9 save you money the nut are no good they weren't even cruncy it was odd.over all chef has some menu changes to make in our opinion.Very disappointed in what I thought would be wonderful.. Turns out it just another place to go to the bar on the creek and get a beer ...
